Charles Phoenix Brings Vintage Disneyland to Life in "Anaheimland 2014" at Loara School
Well, sir, there's nothing on Earth like a genuine, bonafide, electrified, six-car monorail!
Charles Phoenix often ventures into Orange County with his funny commentary and magic box of found home photography slides. But his Anaheim Historical Society presentation on May 25 has extra-special appeal.
"Anaheimland 2014: Live Comedy Performance Celebrating the Magic Kingdom Inside and Out" time travels us back to Disneyland of the 1950s and '60s "in beautiful Kodachrome color."
For the 2 p.m. performance at Loara School, 1601 W. Broadway, Anaheim, Phoenix also promises "to share kitschy and classic legends, landmarks and lore of the undiscovered city that surrounds" the theme park. Festive dress is encouraged but not mandatory.
To snag a $35 ticket, visit CharlesPhoenix.com. Also start saving for his June 21 "Wig Wam Pow Wow" at the teepee-rific Wig Wam Motel off Route 66 in Rialto, a place I have passed by and wanted to book a room at often over the years. Now I have an excuse!
