Chapman University Dorms in Pricey Company
James Doti has worked his Lilliputian arse off over the years trying to get Chapman University included in conversations about the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the land.
The private Orange university finds itself ranked today with many of those prestigious institutions, but probably not in a way Chapman president Doti would like.

By three measely bucks that amazingly beats out New York University, which--when factoring in tuition and other fees--is the most expensive university in the country.
Among the California campuses Chapman smokes in the ranking are: Harvey Mudd College in Claremont (No. 18) and UC Santa Barbara (No. 20). Meanwhile, UC Berkeley falls at No. 2 (behind Eugene Lang College -- The New School in New York), UC Santa Cruz is No. 6 and UCLA is No. 11.
CampusGrotto reports room and board increased 4.6% at public and 3.9% at private colleges in 2010-2011, with the average costs at $8,535 and $9,700 respectively.
