And you best be carrying a drivers license, too.

The Buena Park agency claims checkpoints are a proven deterrent to drunken driving, and the reason to deter the practice is clear to those at the station.

“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 15 lives and resulted in 735 crashes injuring 98 members of our community,” said Police Sgt. Powell says in a statement from the cop shop.

Enforcement strategies aimed at ending DUIs save $6 for every $1 spent, according to state data.

Lives, maiming injuries and tens of thousands of dollars spent on legal fights can also be saved by drivers who don't drink and drive, according to the legal eagles.
