Plenty of nervous lovers have fumbled the engagement ring after dropping to one knee, but Orange County firefighter Brandon Strohbehn dropped his ring as he and his girlfriend Nicole Nepomuceno were dropping 12,500 feet from a plane.
Fortunately, it was just a $9 ring, the 32-year-old groom to be was pulling a prank on his girlfriend of 18 months and the real ring was waiting for the couple on the ground, as were friends and family who were in on the several-months-in-the-planning stunt. It was once they were on earth that Strohbehn seriously got on one knee.
She said yes.
Freefalling out of planes is "the main thing we do together," Strohbehn said of the hobby he and 29-year-old Nepomuceno share. They live in Oceanside and made this jump at Skydive San Diego:
They plan to wed in July 2015--an swear the ceremony will be on the ground.
