Blind Lady Sings

I'm old and disabled, and at times, I find riding the bus a bit daunting. A while back, I was on the No. 24 in Fullerton. The driver, a very nice man, was trying to coax a pretty young woman into singing. Although this gal was very pretty and poised, it was also quite obvious she was blind. Finally, she relented. She stood up and sang a beautiful aria a capella, hitting a couple of high notes that seemed out of human range. She had the voice of an angel. The bus was about three-quarters full, and you could have heard a pin drop when she finished. Then there was this thunderous applause from the passengers that went on and on. It was like being in a musical in which suddenly everything stops and somebody sings. This young woman gave me great joy. It was the very best bus ride I've ever had.
