Barbara McClanahan, Deputy DA Said to Call Seal Beach Massacre Her “Fantasy,” Subject of Restraining Order Sought by Her Boss

A Barstow deputy district attorney had been set to appear in court March 8 concerning threats she is alleged to have made against her boss that included the remark last October's Seal Beach
shooting massacre–the worst in Orange County history–was her “fantasy.”

But now Barbara McClanahan, a diabetic who talked of injecting her superior and others at the Barstow courthouse with insulin, is due before a judge a day earlier to argue why her boss should not be granted a restraining order.

Supervising
Deputy District Attorney Julie Peterson, the alleged target of most of McClanahan's threats, had earlier been granted a restraining order after writing in a filing, “I am in fear of my safety.” Her employee is accused of having said of the eight killings that have been pinned on Scott Evans Dekraai of Huntington Beach, “This is my fantasy.'

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's office has not commented on McClanahan's job status, as the case has been kicked up to the California Attorney General's office to remove any hints of bias. But, according to the Barstow Desert Dispatch, Peterson claims McClanahan was placed on
administrative leave and asked not to return to the office, where she was already known as a “problem employee.”
