A Long Beach man has been arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse following Friday's death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son in Garden Grove.
Lae Thongphun, 27, was detained after Garden Grove police officers and paramedics had arrived shortly before 11 p.m. to a residence in the 8500 block of Emerson Circle to assist a child who was not breathing.
There they discovered a boy, Fox Chau Le, with his face covered in blood. He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
The two-year-old and another sibling had been left in Thongphun's care, according to police, who took the other child into protective custody following the arrest.
