Babies, Porn Stars and Mixed-Martial Artists

New York Post Page 6 columnist Richard Johnson reports today that retired porn star Jenna Jameson is having “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz's love child.

Well, at least we think it's Tito's. Pity the fool who is the father if it is not.

By the by, our image of Ortiz was shot by former Weekly staffer Luke Y. Thompson, who covered the North American Mixed Martial Arts Association Expo back in December on this very site.

It's unclear whether the amazing LYT will be invited into the labor and delivery room to shoot family photos, which should be instant collector's items since they will mark the first time anyone has witnessed something coming out of Jenna's hoo-hoo as opposed to going in.

Jameson reportedly canceled various events tied to New York's Fashion Week to tend to matters at home. Ortiz apparently celebrated by inking a deal with Signal Hill-based mixed-martial arts promoter and clothing company Affliction, which is attempting to establish a league to rival the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The fledgling league's first event was the July 19 “Affliction: Banned” at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Ortiz's debut fight is scheduled against Renato “Babalu” Sobral October 11 at Affliction's “Day of Reckoning” in the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

quinton_jackson.jpgNews of the Adult-Mixed Martial Arts spawn comes hot on the heels of tragic reports that the pregnant Huntington Beach woman involved in July 15's bizarre car crash with MMA brawler and Affliction clothing model Quinton “Rampage” Jackson suffered a miscarriage.

Holli Griggs, 38, was driving a black Cadillac Escalade near the south end of the 55 freeway when Jackson's pick-up truck sideswiped her, according to the California Highway Patrol. Griggs, who was 16 weeks pregnant at the time, went to Hoag Hospital, where it could not be determined if the unborn baby had been injured. She miscarried last week, reports the Orange County Register.

(Wonky journalism sidebar: the Register report states of the miscarriage, “it is too early to say if it resulted from the crash, said Darren Aitken, attorney for Griggs.” That cannot be determined until test results are in next week. But United Press International's follow up says, “The Orange County Register reported Tuesday that Griggs' attorney says the 38-year-old woman, who was 16 weeks pregnant, miscarried as a result of the accident.”)

For those who somehow may have missed the coverage, two other motorists were reportedly hit during Mr. Jackson's wild ride down the 55 freeway and Newport Boulevard, which also included veering onto the wrong side of the road and plowing onto a sidewalk, causing pedestrians to run for their lives. No one else was hurt.

Jackson, 30, of Irvine, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run driving, felony evading and reckless driving, but the District Attorney's office has yet to file charges.

Another former Weekly staffer, Derek Olson, wrote last year of Jackson's close relationship with his mentor and trainer, Juanito Ibarra. Steve Sievert writes today on MMAjunkie.com that Rampage's rampage behind the wheel has left Ibarra “devastated.”
