It's been quite an August for your Anaheim Angels, who fought with the Texas Rangers in Arlington, split a series with the New York Yankees in the Big Apple, got embarrassed by the Cleveland Indians, swept the pitiful Seattle Mariners and gained a couple of games on the first-place Oakland Athletics in the American League West battle royale. As I write this pick, the Angels are about to start a home series with the Boston Red Sox, a team that consistently breaks the Halos' hearts (see 1986, 2004, any time David Ortiz wields a bat), so the Angels might be coming off a great series or a flop.
But this weekend does guarantee a visit from our favorite bitches—the much-vaunted New York Yankees, the team that sags with a $200 million-plus payroll yet hasn't won the World Series since 2000. The Angels are the only team in baseball to boast a winning record against the Yankees since 1996 at 53-50 and expect that winning streak to continue this weekend. Even with the rash of injuries and suspensions that have pushed the Angels close to the off-season edge, we can expect the hometown nine to show those pendejo New Yorkers a thing or two about baseball.
