As Bus Cuts Near, Transit Advocates Gather

If you ride a bus or train in Orange County–or if you simply want to do something about the looming cuts to the bus system, as detailed last month in the Weekly–you might want to head to the Santa Ana Depot train station tonight.

There, the Transit Advocates of Orange County will be holding their first meet 'n greet in some time. Previously, the Advocates have been successful in getting the Orange County Transportation Authority to tweak and soften plans for bus reductions. But with 150,000 hours set to be deleted from the bus system starting March 14, the Advocates are again organizing to inform riders about the impending cuts and perhaps even stave off future reductions.
The meeting will be on the 5th floor of the depot. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., meeting begins at 6. There'll be refreshments. Check out the agenda here, and take note of the final item:
10. ADJOURN IN MEMORY OF 62 AND NIGHT OWL
Yup. For Transit Advocates, the loss of a bus line is like the loss of a friend.
