And Here Come the Surf City Hail Memes!
First came the rare sight of what looked like snow, but was actually hail, covering downtown Huntington Beach and nearby beach sand Monday morning. Then came the photos posted in texts and on social media of the freak weather phenomenon.
And then came Hector "Hek" Valdez.
Valdez created a meme and enhanced another based on the covering of hail and posted them on HBcommUNITYVoice's Facebook group page.*
Besides the Sugar Shack satire on the opener page, we were treated to this:
[* CLARIFICATION FROM HEK: I did make the Sugar Shack meme but the AtAt was pulled from the Internet. I only added the Polaroid and the "greetings" portion. Don't know who the original artist is.]
The National Weather Service (NWS) says about an inch of hail accumulated on Huntington Beach Monday morning thanks to a new low-pressure cold system. Pea-sized hail was also reported in Mission Viejo about 10:35 a.m.
After the promise of showers overnight last night--and possibly more hail in some areas--it's expected to warm up to near-normal temperatures today, continue warming the rest of the week and hit the mid-70s along the coast and the 80s inland by Friday, according to the NWS.
Meme yer hearts out!
