Alfredo Fraga, 23, Who Sexually Assaulted Woman, 58, Near Park Trail, Gets 15 Years

Alfredo Fraga, 23,  of Orange, was sentenced last week to 15 years to life in state prison for dragging a 58-year-old woman into the bushes near a
park walking trail and sexually assaulting her. After deliberating an hour, a jury in October found Fraga guilty of two felony counts of sexual
penetration by foreign object by force, with a sentencing enhancement
allegation for kidnapping in the commission of a sexual offense found true.

The woman delivered to the court a victim-impact statement in which she said Fraga had “forever robbed me of my expectation of safety and trust.”

She continued, “My attack and assault lasted only a few short minutes, but the
memories for me shall be everlasting. “Hopefully this nightmare ends now, today, in this courtroom. I entered as a victim
and shall leave as a survivor.”

Around 2 p.m. on May 25, 2009, the woman was walking alone on a trail in
Esplanade Park in an unincorporated area
of Santa Ana when Fraga grabbed her by the waist and dragged her
into nearby bushes. He put his hands down her pants and fingered her
vaginally and anally before she struggled to break free and run away.
