You've seen Kathryn Hahn in hilarious supporting roles on Girls, Parks and Recreation and Wanderlust, among many, many others, but she gets to carry a picture with Afternoon Delight, the latest comedy from writer Jill Soloway, who also makes her feature directorial debut. It's the latest movie getting a sneak preview screening locally before its national theatrical release thanks to the Orange County Film Society, which rolls Afternoon Delight at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lido in Newport Beach.

Hahn plays Rachel, a stay-at-home mom in LA's trendy Silver Lake area bored with her middle-class existence. To spice things up, she brings home a stripper (Juno Temple) to be her son's nanny. You can imagine the social and sexual boundaries that get crossed, creating moments that Soloway has called “funcomfortable.”
Audiences at this year's Sundance Film Festival ate it up, and Soloway grabbed the best director award there.
Afternoon Delight, which is rated R, premieres in Orange County theaters on Sept. 6, but if you prefer to see it before then in a theater full of cinema lovers, all you need to do is join or already belong to the Orange County Film Society.
Your annual membership gets you into this and other future preview screenings around the county, as well as discounted tickets to the Newport Beach Film Festival next spring. For more details, visit orangecountyfilmsociety.com.
