5 South Countians Held in Murder of Man Found at End of Trabuco Creek Road

Five South County residents were arrested today on suspicion of murder and conspiracy in the stabbing death of a Perris man found dead at the end of Trabuco Creek Road in San Juan Capistrano on July 13, the sheriff’s department announced.

The arrestees are: Ashkan Dezhangfard, 22, of San Juan Capistrano; Ryan Huebnar, 20, of Laguna Niguel; Siavish Hosseinaliarhani, 18, of Laguna Niguel; Angelica Shibata, 28, of San Juan Capistrano; and Brion Hyde, 22, of San Juan Capistrano.

The deceased—identified as Alvaro Rios, 38, of Perris—had been reported missing from the Riverside County city.

Deputies were sent about 1:10 p.m. July 13—a Wednesday—to the inland end of Trabuco Creek Road, where passersby discovered the body of an adult male. The sheriff’s department informed the media at the time that the death was suspicious.

An autopsy conducted by the Orange County coroner confirmed Alvaro was the victim of homicide, with injuries consistent with being stabbed, the sheriff’s department disclosed this afternoon.

How investigators zeroed in on the suspected quintet is not yet known, but deputies “served several search warrants on vehicles and residences in south Orange County,” according to the agency.

All five were booked into Orange County Jail, are being held on $1 million bail each and have a scheduled court appearance on Monday.
