A 45-year-old Anaheim man was killed Sunday evening when he fell backwards from a sidewalk and into the path of an Orange County Transportation Authority bus in Midway City, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened just after 6 p.m. at Beach Boulevard and McFadden Avenue. The victim died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

The 57-year-old bus driver from Orange stopped and opened his door along northbound Beach, waited 15 seconds, closed the doors and continued on, CHP Officer B. Martin explained to City News Service.
“For unknown reasons a male standing on the sidewalk fell backwards into the No. 4 lane of northbound Beach Boulevard where he was struck by the bus,” Martin said.
Joel Zlotnick of OCTA told the news service the accident is under investigation.
