2 Juvies Popped for Donald Trump Rally Vandalism; Photo Released of 3rd Male

The Costa Mesa Police Department spent California’s primary election day reminding residents of the April 28 visit by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump—by revealing two juvenile residents of the city were arrested for vandalism to patrol vehicles after the campaign rally.

Detectives on Tuesday also released photos and a description of a third suspect they believe damaged a police car outside Pacific Amphitheater that crazy night.

Many Trump supporters who attended the campaign event blamed the ensuing unrest on outside agitators, but the arrests show there was homegrown agitation as well. Neither minor is being identified because of their ages, according to CMPD.

The outstanding male is described as having been seen in black pants, a white shirt, gray shoes and a black hat with green under the bill. He also kept a gray shirt over his mouth, police note.
The patrol vehicle pinned to him was vandalized near Fair Drive and Fairview Road just before 9:20 p.m., according to the city.

The Trump event was under the jurisdiction of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) because it was on the grounds of the state-owned Orange County Fair and Events Center. Costa Mesa cops assisted mainly by handling traffic control on the outlying streets surrounding the fairgrounds.

After the event ended, attendees and protesters converged along Fair Drive from Fairview Road to Newport Boulevard, and that is when all hell broke loose.

Ever since, the Costa Mesa Police Department has been investigating four vandalism incidents, including one that involved damage to six CMPD marked patrol vehicles.

“The other three vandalisms were to motorists who reported damage to their vehicles,” the city states in a release. “There were no investigative leads for those other three incidents.”

Anyone with information about the incidents or the outstanding suspect is asked to contact Costa Mesa Police Detective Monte Peters at 714.754.5198 or via email at mp*****@co*********.gov.

“We will pursue all means to ensure that we recover full restitution for the cost of the city’s damaged property,” the city notes in its release.

Costa Mesa police detectives are also investigating two assaults: One where an officer on the force was hit in the helmet with a rock, and a second where an attendee was hit in the head with a fist.

The OCSD is still probing a third assault as well as a reckless driving incident.

In its release, the City of Costa Mesa cites news sources, which relied on the Trump campaign, to state about 31,000 attended the rally. Actually, there were 8,000 people inside the amphitheater to see and hear the New York developer and reality television star. The OCSD originally reported another 3,000 people were outside the venue and in the streets, but later revised that to claim a total of 23,000 folks were either inside or outside the rally.
