What's Humming Through the Skulls of Orange County

I love my bands, but they won't let me write about their music, so here's the unbiased list of bands I enjoy:

> Hot Rod Circuit. This Connecticut band has much power and meaning to their music—much charm and likability. Amazing live (the guitarist bounces off the wall like it's a sport).

> Adam and His Package. What a freak. A guy and his sequencer, he takes all the best of the '80s and makes it fresh and new. If Adam weren't so punk-rock in his way of thinking, I'd make bets that he'd be better-known. This is the future of music.

> Julian Coryell. Wow. If I could write songs, I'd write them like Julian's. His music is so amazing and dark, but he still keeps the pop intact. If you like Jeff Buckley, you'll like Julian.

> A New Found Glory. Catchy and captivating, watch out for this band. They've already started making noise, and I'm sure there'll be more noise to come.

> Jaded. This band should be huge. I'm not the biggest fan of female singers, but Tina rules. A band that is able to borrow from all genres and make a sound of its own.

> The Pixies tribute album, Where Is My Mind? Completely diverse and a refreshing compilation, with Weezer, Teen Heroes, Nada Surf and others. Not everything on here is good, but as far as comps go, this is a must-have.

> Diablo 44. Go see this band. I'm not sure if they have a CD yet, but from what I hear, if you like it hard and fast, you won't be disappointed. Old-school punk with a fresh feel. Bravo!
