Weezer: Past Their Expiration Date?

Let's be honest for a second. Weezer only sound good when they are true to themselves. They've produced hardly any good material since the band's self-titled debut, known as “The Blue Album,” and the follow-up, Pinkerton, which was more than 10 years ago. It's sad to admit this, but their new State Farm jingle is the only thing that comes remotely close to anything good from them in awhile.

I won't say it's the most wonderful song I've heard, but it's really good by latter-day Weezer standards. I'm thinking Rivers Cuomo should just stick to covering Beach Boys material, and the rest of the band should continue selling their Weezer Snuggie material. Either way, the band should quit now or get a better gig selling something cooler . . . say a good new album?
