Video: 1st Annual Clown Jam at the Doll Hut

Call us clownaholics, but after goofing around with the Yeastie Boys–Costa Mesa's favorite face-painted, punk rock bozo squad–we just had to pop in to last weekend's 1st Annual All-Star Clown Jam.  Hosted by the Doll Hut in Anaheim, the soul purpose of gathering all Yeastie Boys members past present in front of a the crowded, beer-drenched swarm of die-hard fans.

Sharing the stage with several other bands–including Super Kill (which drummer Ronald McDogfaceClownface also plays in), Plan 9 and Desperation Squad–the music, mayhem and prop-throwing didn't stop until last call. Something tells us the staff are still cleaning up the mess. But even though the epic clownapalooza was simply too good for words, we obtained a copy of the action, courtesy of John Gilhooley, a veteran photographer for the Weekly who we also learned has deep seeded clown punk tendencies.

This video finds our beloved photog (aka John Clownhooley) on stage with the band in full make-up and Mohawk, thrashing wailing like a pro during a cover of the Agent Orange classic “Bloodstains”–or in this case “Clownstains.” Yeah, this vid is definitely worth two minutes of your life. For those who want to experience this circus for themselves, the band is playing again on July 9 at the Galaxy Concert Theatre in Santa Ana opening for CJ Ramone (former replacement for Dee Dee Ramone of the Ramones).
