Two Guns' Record Release at Fingerprints Today

Long Beach band Two Guns is having a record release party for their sophomore set Far People in Far Places today at Fingerprints Records in Long Beach, at 7 p.m. and it is FREE! (Doesn't hurt to pre-order the record though.)

According to our Beat Blvd. reviewer Ned Raggett, this short-but-sweet album gave him flashbacks of the early '90s indie-alt rock music (i.e., Pavement, Blur). Which makes sense, because as bassist Harris Pittman says the whole band is influenced by that era. “The Lemonheads,
Sonic Youth, Archers of Loaf and Pavement shaped a lot of our early days
of listening.” He adds, “Oh, and Blur is pretty neat.”

]
Two Guns, named after a ghost town in Arizona (“I guess they like guns there, or maybe they don't and only have two?” Pittman ponders), has been designated as all kinds of pop-rock genres, but the one that sticks the most is pop psych. And while that's cool and all, “I think of Syd Barrett solo records
when I hear that term, or maybe some of The Flaming Lips records,” Pittman says.

Our advice? Listen to the band here, or pick up a copy at Fingerprints tonight to hear for yourself.
