Two Coachellas Are Better Than One

CLONING COACHELLA
Festival organizers announced that Coachella 2012 will be held over two weekends: it will be the same lineup, same art, same place, different people. Coachella Weekend 1 will be held April 13-15, 2012, and Coachella Weekend 2 will be held April 20-22, 2012. The decision was made to address the high demand; in a statement, Goldenvoice said, “We know many of you were unable to attend this year's festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non-legitimate sources and were inconvenienced, gouged or totally scammed. We hope that these changes will give everyone the opportunity to purchase directly from Coachella.com.” From a May 31 post on Heard Mentality.

FRANKI DOLL & THE BROKEN TOYS IN A HORROR MOVIE
Hot Topic
faves Franki Doll & the Broken Toys are in negotiations for an upcoming horror movie, apparently. Doll says she can't let all of the details out, but “I can tell you that OC Weekly will be the first publication we call to dish out the info. We're very excited.” Uh, thanks! From a June 1 post.

RILEY'S BACK!
Riley Breckenridge
, Thrice drummer and columnist extraordinaire, is back blogging for the Weekly's music blog, Heard Mentality (thank GOD!). In his back-to-writing column, he said, “I'd like to thank those of you who shared kind words with me via Twitter, the comment section here and/or my blog during my hiatus. December of 2010 and January of 2011 were, without a doubt, the most difficult months of my life, and to have people sending me words of sympathy and notes of encouragement definitely helped make an awfully rough road a little smoother.” He added a disclaimer, too: “I apologize if it takes me a few weeks to dust off the wit and snark that you were used to in these columns previously and really hope I don't stumble through these first few like a newborn deer. It's entirely possible, though. Bear with me. We'll get there.” From a May 31 post by Riley Breckenridge.
