Thrice Announce Indefinite Hiatus

Dustin Kensrue of Thrice announced that after 13 years of playing together, the Irvine-based, experimental, post-hardcore outfit have decided to take an indefinite hiatus following their upcoming tour. The hiatus does not appear to be the result of any malice between band members; rather, it seems to simply be an issue of timing. While Kensrue, lead guitarist Teppei Teranishi, and brothers Riley and Eddie Breckenridge were described as “low-key, family-oriented guys” in our recent feature about the band (see Lilledeshan Bose's “Family Guys,” Sept. 16), Kensrue and Teranishi's familial duties seem to have got the better of them. Whatever the future holds for the four of them, it'll be interesting to see what happens next. Kensrue said he's sure this won't mark the end of his career in music, and that doubtless holds true for Teranishi and the Breckenridge brothers will either. Dischord launched the Fugazi Live Series, a monstrous, years-in-the-making archive of 800 Fugazi shows recorded—often with high-quality gear by the band's sound engineers—from 1987 to 2003. Dischord made 130 downloadable shows available for the archive launch on Dec. 1, with hundreds more to come in the near future. Each concert has its own page, which contains information about the show, photographs, fliers and more. Every show is available to preview for free, with a pay-what-you-want fee to download.
