The Dopest Dope

All you heroes in the city of dope, stand up! They're the ones you've been waiting for, and they're coming!

On Saturday, Zion I N the Grouch and the Visionaries, with special guests Crown City Rockers, will rock the Vault 350 roofless as they celebrate a double-record-release party: Zion I N the Grouch's debut, Heroes in the City of Dope, and the Visionaries' We Are the Ones (We've Been Waiting For). Though only the second stop in Zion I N the Grouch's tour, this will be far from a warm-up since these groups always come prepared, lyrically armed with building blocks for your mental. All you have to do is get on a freeway and drive in the direction of Long Beach.

If you get lost, don't worry. Just follow the red glow you'll see looming between cement and sky—the phosphorescent hearts of lyricists who've been spitting for years. Nothing from them is ever the same. Having already listened to Heroes in the City of Dope, I highly recommend you be in attendance—Zion I N the Grouch subtly complement each other's flows, and the Visionaries' fourth album is rumored to be powerful and potent. Believe me and get in line with all the other heads.

With a combined 28 years of hip-hop experience, it's a show destined to be ridiculously good! This is what you've been waiting for—standing room only.

Visionaries and Zion I N the Grouch with Crown City Rockers at Vault 350, 350 Pine Ave., Long Beach, (888) 808-2858; www.vault350.com. Sat., 7 p.m. $16.50.
