6th Annual Zombie Prom with BLOK The Wayfarer This Halloween night, make it a weird and wild one outside of the conventional bobbing for apples variety, and come spend it at the Zombie Prom with your homies from BLOK. Sibs Damien Blaise and Gianna Gianna will provide their deadly combo of avant garde, indie hip hop, rap and electro beats to make the vibe sufficiently eccentric. Come dressed to kill (or chill) in your best costumes for a chance to win the costume contest, and rock out with the legion of DJs here to set the soundtrack for the night. Brothers Grimm, DJ Soul Wolf, DJ Niko Six, and DJ Bryan Woods are here to spin the spookiest (and freshest) beats to make the evening just right. (Aimee Murillo)

Boingo Dance Party Coach House This is the ultimate Dead Man's Party--on Halloween night, head over to the Coach House for a wild celebration of spirits, ghouls, and the music of Oingo Boingo. Featuring former OB band members (not Danny Elfman, obviously, but he's playing the Honda Center on Sunday) such as Sam "Sluggo" Phipps, Carl Graves, and ringleader Johnny Vatos, Boingo Dance Party keeps Oingo Boingo fans' cravings at least somewhat satiated, because, unfortunately, a true OB reunion just isn't going to happen. So when the trick-or-treating is finished, and the kiddies are put to bed, it's time for the adults to have some Halloween fun. Put on your costume and get ready to dance all night long.   Saturday, November 1

Upcoming Events

Tribute to Ikey Owens Alex's Bar The city of Long Beach--and much of the music world, actually--mourns the loss of gifted producer and musician Ikey Owens, who was found dead in his Mexico hotel room last month, apparently from suffering a heart attack. Owen was touring as a keyboardist with Jack White, just one of the many high-profile and prolific musical groups Owens was part of. A native of Long Beach, he was "Long Beach's Ultimate Sonic Wingman," and now, the city pays respect in a way Owens would appreciate. Alex's Bar opens its doors for an all-day tribute to the local legend, starting at 2 p.m., with a full lineup of bands and DJs playing soul, rock, funk and jazz. The man may be gone--but he definitely won't be forgotten.

45 Grave Tiki Bar Legendary punk outfit 45 Grave have been resurrected many times since their early beginnings in 1979, having gone through member changes that include Rikk Agnew, Pat Smear and Paul B. Cutler. Some things don't change though, and one of those things is lead singer Dinah Cancer's vocal power and passion for the group that have helped 45 Grave survive. This time around, Frank Agnew (brother of Rikk) is on hand as a member to bring 45 Grave's horror punk/goth music come together. Come dig 'em tonight at Tiki Bar as they play alongside The Grim and Burning Groove. (Aimee Murillo)

Danny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton Honda Center Attention, fan-boys and -girls, the king of Halloween graces our fair county to send all us fanatics into a complete frenzy. Elfman, the genius composer behind such soundtracks as Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Simpsons theme song, comes to the Honda Center to play a host of scores from his works with director and icon noir Tim Burton. Backed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony and Choir, and conducted by John Mauceri, Elfman will sing select works from Nightmare as Jack Skellington, whom the musician famously voiced. Adding to the music magic is film footage and Burton's illustrations, projected onto a massive backdrop. This isn't the end of Halloween season--for some of us, Halloween is every day. (Erin DeWitt)
