Serge Gainsbourg Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl

Serge Gainsbourg Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl

French music was never the same after Serge Gainsbourg. The pop-lounge act put even more eroticism in the French language and was as iconic in life as he was in music. On Aug. 28, there will be a Gainsbourg tribute at the Hollywood Bowl titled "Serge Gainsbourg Tribute With Jean-Claude Vannier" as part of KCRW's World Festival.

The all-star cast includes Beck, Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste, Beach House's Victoria Legrand, Zola Jesus' Nika Roza Danilova, Sean Lennon, Mike Patton and Pink Martini's China Forbes.

The tribute concert will be led by composer, arranger and frequent Gainsbourg collaborator Vannier with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Gainsbourg's classic LP, 1971's Histoire de Melody Nelson; accompanying it will be Vannier's 1972 debut, L'Enfant Assasin des Mouches and other Gainsbourg songs.
