Reel Big Fish to Headline Viva Ska Vegas

It's not often that we try to alert your attention to a festival that's going on across state lines. But given our county's undeniable ska roots, we'd be crazy to let you skip Viva Ska Vegas, a day-long deluge of third wave ska bands that represent an entire era of music that refuses to be blown away.

Headlined by Huntington Beach heroes Reel Big Fish, the show on May 4th at the Henderson Events Plaza pulls together acts from OC, LA and the Inland Empire who contributed greatly to the scene and continue to stay faithful to it. As far as authenticity goes, VSV organizers were also the ones behind former staples like the Ska Summit and the International Ska Circus, including OC music guru Tazy Phyllipz, the guy behind legendary radio show The Ska Parade who helped get No Doubt discovered back in the day.

The 10-band lineup includes bands like Suburban Legends, The Chinkees, Let's Go Bowling, The Skeletones, CodeName: Rockey and more. Tickets starting at $22 are now available on the festival's website. Not too shabby when you consider you'll be spending considerably more on gas just to get to Sin City. But if you're an OC ska fanatic, this lineup definitely proves that your road trip isn't a gamble. Stay tuned to the festival site for set times and more info on the official after party at the Gold Mine Tavern.
