New Hirax Record Coming Soon

Local thrash heroes Hirax announced last week that they are hitting the studio in June to record the band's fourth full-length album. Joining the five-piece will be producer/engineer Bill Metoyer, whose resume includes working with Slayer, Morbid Angel and Armored Saint.

I
have known Bill Metoyer since my early days when Hirax was signed to
Metal Blade Records,” singer Katon W. De Pena said. “We recorded our first
two albums with him. He has been at our last two Los Angeles
concerts at the Key Club and the
House of Blues and he knows what kind of sound that we are looking for. We talked on the phone about the new album and
he is really up to do this recording.  I sent him an mp3 of one of our
new songs (“La Boca de la Bestia,” which means “The Mouth of the Beast”
in Spanish)  and he said 'I'm in. I'll take the job.'”

The sessions are slated to take place at North Hollywood's Skull Seven Studio (operated by Metoyer) and will be released by De Pena's Black Devil Records.
Before the recording, Hirax is performing three dates in Peru in April,
where De Pena says new songs such as “Thunder Roar” and “La Boca de la
Bestia” will be debuted.

De Pena says the album has a title, but
“we want to keep it a secret until all of the songs are completed.” I
guess that means we're just going to have to wait until June.
