2) Our second feature highlights the adventurous, 80s-inspired sounds of producer Com Truise. Peeling back the layers of his “mid-fi, synth-wave, slow-motion funk,” we learn more about the long love affair between the electro artists andsci-fi films like Blade Runner. For the artist born Seth Hayley, that love affair reaches full tilt on his latest album, 2011's Galactic Melt, which started out as a score for a space travel movie in his head that remains unfilmed. Even if it never does get made, at least it had a cool soundtrack.
3) Our Locals Only column is all about a couple of EDM artists on the prowl. While you might look at DJ duo Sex Panther as a bit of a gimmick, their success in the EDM world has been astonishing. In a little over two years, Ryan Fontana and Aaron Cool went from barely knowing how to DJ to playing clubs and festivals all over the world. Not bad for a couple of Newport Beach brosefs. 4) Our Ask Exene column is a bit of a heartbreaker this week.
