Gettin' Made: Gimmie Some Sugar, Robot

This summer's been a little strange in terms of the weather–June gloom seems like it's hanging on for dear life, and it sometimes feels like spring, not summer. When it's nice and breezy like this, I love taking a good walk around the block. Birds singing, neighbors have gardens in bloom, and butterflies abound. I just want to pick one of those butterflies right out of the air and eat them! But then I stop and remind myself–I better straighten up and fly right, because these are not Sugar Robot's lifelike edible butterfly confections. And they probably won't taste nearly as good.

After the jump, check out more amazing edible cupcake toppers from this sweet Etsy crafter.

Lisa of Sugar Robot is an aspiring chemist with a passion for baked goods based in Ventura. She took her first decorating class eight years ago. It was instant love, and she's been hooked ever since.

What exactly are these amazing creations made of? Each of these delicate toppers is made with wafer paper, which is potato starch, vegetable oil and water. The wafer paper has been printed with an edible ink, and then is coated with an organic orange flavoring for stability and shine. Lisa is happy to create custom assortments for your next fancy shindig!

Even more amazing than the butterflies in Sugar Robot's shop, though, are the peacock feathers. They're truly eye-catching–I need an excuse to have a fancy party so I can order up some of them!
