Gettin' Made: Bag a New Purse This Weekend in Seal Beach

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, make sure to check out the Seal Beach Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. While you're hanging out at the festival taking place near the pier, be sure not to miss Seal Beach artisan Seth Wegter's handmade handbag line called SethBags–his latest collection of artistic, sophisticated purses, man-bags, and other creations will be sure to convince you that you need a brand new bag.

After the jump, more about this talented local designer.

Seth Wetger has been working on his SethBags for more than five years now with no sign of slowing down. Inspired by jazz, the ocean and classic craftsmanship, this Wilson High School English teacher and wrestling coach designs and hand makes each and every vibrant purse, clutch and “man bag” the old fashioned way, hovering over a sewing machine for hours to produce bags that truly stand the test of time.

Wegter shares, “Each design comes straight from my brain and every piece is unique due to variations in stitching, fabric cut, embellishments and labeling.” He even has found a way to incorporate his wildly imaginative musings by including original, handwritten stories to the interior of his larger bags, which, Seth adds, “establishes an entertaining and personal back story for each purse.”
