Four Reasons To Stay In OC For Memorial Day Weekend

No one can argue that Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to sneak in an extra concert, club nights, posh pool parties– and anything else that involves music and giving a middle finger to the work week. But more often than not, people use it as an excuse to get away to San Diego, Palm Springs or Las Vegas. However, this year avid electronic music fans have more than enough to keep them busy in Orange County and Los Angeles (not to mention you'll save a shit load of gas). In honor of the extended weekend, we offer you a list of events that brings EDM and MDW together for one wild OC weekend.

Identity Management and Insomniac Events are teaming up this year to put together a line up at the posh Sutra Nightclub in Costa Mesa that is sure to satisfy your pre-EDC jitters. This “Road to EDC Las Vegas” special event features some of the worlds best DJs right in our own backyard. Giving a new meaning to Memorial Day Weekend, the festivities actually started on Wednesday this year, kicking off with Fedde Le Grand on Wednesday and Laidback Luke on Thursday. From there, the venue boasts key performances from Chuckie Friday, Gareth Emery Saturday, the yearly all white party with Paul Van Dyk Sunday and an extra special Monday night with the one and only Armin Van Buuren. With tickets starting at a mere $20 each during pre-sales, any OC EDM fan worth their glow sticks ought to be snapping up tickets.

2. Lighting in a Bottle

For those who want more out of their Memorial Day Weekend than an ordinary club-hopping session, Lighting in a Bottle takes place Thursday May 24th through Monday the 28th at the Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado. This annual four-day music and arts festival is a celebration of art, music and life. This year's lineup boasts headlining EDM DJs and producers like Bassnectar and The Glitch Mob and a cavalcade of speakers giving workshops on personal growth and transformation, wellness and other pop psychology buzz words. This camping festival has no VIP areas and instead fosters self-expression, artistry as well as musical freedom. Created by the ever inventive team at the Do LaB (their bass-rattling party tent makes an appearance at Coachella every year), Lighting in a Bottle is the place to be for upwards 12,000 music and art aficionados every year.
