Foo Fighters to Headline BlizzCon 2011
Christopher Victorio/OC Weekly
So you thought Kanye West performing at the Call of Duty XP was a little off? Well, BlizzCon just pulled out their piece de resistance by announcing the Foo Fighters will be headlining the closing event of the two-day convention.
Blizzcon, held Oct. 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center, is already sold out, but mega fans can watch the whole thing at home by ordering a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, which features live coverage of the event (including Foo Fighters' performance) over the Internet and on DIRECTV(R) here in the United States.
True to form, Grohl had something cheeky to say about it (which is being quoted earnestly in press releases, so it's REALLY funny):
We're pretty sure that in the future, music historians will look back at BlizzCon 2011 as the unquestionable pinnacle of Foo Fighters' long and illustrious career. . . . We look forward to living up to that prediction by bringing the Horde and Alliance together to rock the hell out of Anaheim next month."
Opening up the concert will be the Artist Formerly Known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain, who are returning to BlizzCon following a two-year interstellar tour through the Koprulu sector. Blizzard's in-house metal band will be performing songs from Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo games before the Foo Fighters take the stage.
BlizzCon is the gathering place of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft. Aside from music, BlizzCon will have discussion panels, competitive and casual tournaments, contests, hands-on playtime with current and upcoming Blizzard Entertainment games, and more.
A BlizzCon Virtual Ticket is $39.99 and available via www.blizzcon.com/live-stream.
