Country singer Charlie Louvin (of the Louvin Brothers) has died from complications related to pancreatic cancer. Manager Brett Steele said the country singer died in his sleep in Wartrice, Tennessee, early Wednesday, according to CNN. Last year, Louvin was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery, but he continued to schedule performances and even put out a new album, The Battles Rage On.

The unique sound of Charlie and his brother Ira were highly influential throughout the decades. Their hits, including “I Don't Believe You've Met My Baby” and “When I Stop Dreaming,” were among the greatest, most inspiring country songs of all time. The brothers disbanded as a performing duo in 1963, and Ira died in a car accident two years later. Charlie Louvin continued on as an idiosyncratic solo artist with a strong following.
He was 83.
