Cissy Houston To Write Book On Her Beloved Whitney. Too Soon?

We warned you a few months ago that this was going to happen, and alas, it did. For all the sadness and murkiness surrounding Whitney Houston's final years (well, final 10-15) and death, you just knew people who were close to her and/or family members were going to eventually going to jump at the opportunity to make a quick buck at her expense. Well friends, that day is here.

If you think we're talking about Houston's final creative project, her co-starring role in the film Sparkle with Jordin Sparks, nope, you're wrong. Though the first single from the film's soundtrack, “Celebrate,” is doing inevitably well since it is after all Houston's “final” track (just wait till her estate gets all Tupac on us), debuting at No. 34 on Billboard's Adult R&B airplay chart at No. 34. But no, that's not the big news here.

Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, is writing a book on her daughter's triumphant, yet conflicted life. Mrs. Houston's memoir will reveal the “unabridged and unbelievable story” of her iconic daughter. HarperCollins announced Monday that the as-of-yet-untitled book is scheduled to come out next February.

Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously, do these people have no shame? Not only is it way too early to lament about the death of the pop icon, but also to have the nerve to coincide the release around the time of the singer's death is downright disgusting. Both Mrs. Houston and HarperCollins are trying to gloss over the sliminess of this seven figure deal by saying a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J.

This isn't Mrs. Houston's first foray into the literary world. She wrote a memoir in 1998 and generally, don't people usually get one chance to write their story? I guess not if your daughter just died and is one of the greatest singers in music history.

According to HarperCollins, Mrs. Houston's book will contain items on her daughter's career, drug issues, her tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown and of course, her own grief.

“She will tell the unabridged and unbelievable story of her daughter's life as well as her own, addressing Whitney's brightest and darkest moments while helping fans around the world understand the complexities of this extraordinary star who died much too soon,” the publisher announced in a statement.

“Ultimately, Cissy will go behind the headlines to show the true, human side of this strong, successful yet complicated musical icon, capturing the dramatic depths and soaring range of an extraordinary woman, along with the pain and heartbreak of a grieving mother as she struggles with impossible loss.”

Instead of channeling “grief” into a moneymaking opportunity, how about trying to help out granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina? Doesn't anyone care about her well-being? Nah, when it's about making a quick buck, nobody gives a shit about the people who matter. Frankly, I'm surprised, and borderline shocked, to say this, but somehow, Bobby Brown is actually looking like the good guy at the moment (though that can change mighty fast). He's been relatively quiet, outside of a few interviews, and mourning in his own way without being a glory hound trying to make a buck off his ex's death. Then again, when a pop star dies, you expect people to come out of the woodwork to capitalize on it for their own gain; I just didn't think it would be her own mother leading the charge. It's one thing to express a mother's love, but the timing of this is shameful and embarrassing.

  1. I recently tried CBD gummies from this website https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/collections/full-spectrum-cbd-oil for the blue ribbon prematurely and was pleasantly surprised past the results. Initially skeptical, I start that it significantly helped with my dread and doze issues without any remarkable side effects. The fuel was unoppressive to utter, with clear dosage instructions. It had a merciful, vulgar grain that was not unpleasant. Within a week, I noticed a signal upgrading in my overall well-being, feeling more relaxed and rested. I comprehend the natural approach to wellness CBD offers and procedure to continue using it.
