CHART: Sony NGP Vs. Nintendo 3DS Vs. the iPhone 4
Within the span of a single week, Nintendo and Sony have set the stage for the latest video-game-system war: the Nintendo 3DS vs the Sony NGP.
The two systems are vastly different from each other, and each will appeal to a completely different audience. The Sony NGP (cheesily short for next generation portable) is a monster of a handheld. It's capable of pumping out almost PS3-quality graphics and has so many features it can put The Homer to shame. Nintendo's 3DS, on the other hand, is slightly more reserved when it comes to the visuals. Sporting a smaller screen and inferior graphics, the 3DS' main draw is its ability to display 3D without the use of those embarrassing glasses. It's probably going to be a lot more affordable, too.
Both of these handheld gaming systems are clearly competing with a new challenger this time around, as well: Apple's iPhone. Taking the market by storm, Apple's iOS devices are now the clear king of portable, casual gaming. Just about everybody these days has an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. How are the iOS devices compared to Sony and Nintendo's latest offerings?
With both portable consoles on the horizon, which is the best one for you? Which console has the best battery life? Which is the most portable? What about internal memory? How will they compare to the iPhone? Which system is the least embarrassing to play in public? Most of the most important questions regarding your purchasing decision will be answered with the following comparison chart, putting the features of Nintendo's 3DS, Sony's NGP and Apple's latest iPhone 4 head-to-head.
(Note that some information regarding the NGP and 3DS has not been announced yet; this chart will be updated as more info becomes available.)
