Anthony Rosas On the Virtues of Charity and Manscaping

[Editor's Note: Quick Questions is our semi-regular feature where we ask comedians a ton of random questions without giving them time to think of anything funny to say. Surprisingly, they still do.]

Comedian Anthony Rosas is a strong believer in the medicinal properties of laughter. On May 25th you can join him when he hits the stage along with Adam Ray, Eric Schwartz, Joseph Janesin, and Darryl Blackshere for the 3rd annual CHOC Hospital Benefit Show at the Brea Improv presented by Comedy Dads. Before this fantastic event goes down, we wanted to get more familiar with him and figured there was no better way to do just that other than with a little game of “Quick Questions.”

OC Weekly (Ali Lerman): How do you like to handle hecklers?

Anthony Rosas: Throat punch. Or pray I can come up with something witty and shut them down and get the crowd to turn on them.

Madonna, Lady Gaga, or same thing anyway?
Ugh. Selena Gomez.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Excuses. People blame time or their circumstances for reason they don't do things. That and Tom Brady.

Is there anything you consider off limits when it comes to a joke?
Nope. I like making people laugh at something that makes them uncomfortable.

Manscape or all natural?
Manscape. Just in case the wife gets weird.

What's the best advice that you've ever received?
Don't live to impress others, just do what makes you happy. And, always choose “C” for all tests in school.

What's the thing you miss most about being a kid?
Free cable.

What is the best and the worst concert you have ever been to?
Michael Jackson “Bad” was the best. His “One” Vegas show is close though. The worst shows were all of the Britney Spears ones the wife made me go to.

If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?
The Rock

I knew comedy was my calling when…
My pro wrestling career didn't pan out. That and the fact that I enjoy making people fake laugh at me.
[

What did you do after prom night?
I went out with this girl who became a lesbian after me. #IDidSomethingWrong

My first time on stage…
I was freaked out. I was testing the waters not realizing it would become something that I would do regularly. And, I didn't want to bomb in front of my friends. Good thing I invited 300 of them.

Besides your family, if your house was on fire and you could only grab three things, what would they be?
My baby's favorite blanket and then whatever the wife tells me to get. I'd also go for my phone and my autographed WWE title if she lets me.

What's the most played song in your iPod?
Call Me Maybe.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
The TV show “Total Divas.”

If you could only listen to one genre of music forever what would it be?
Pop. It's more entertaining to listen to and it's fun to rip on how lame it is and how they all end up in rehab.

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?
Ralph Macchio.

Honestly, when was the last time you checked your MySpace?
A few months ago to see if I had any new friends. I didn't.

Karaoke. OK for only drunk people or OK for everyone? Drunk people. Sober people really believe they're good. And they're not. Show your boobs.

What's next for you?
Trying to feed my baby strawberries but I'll probably cave in and give her cookies.

How did you get involved with CHOC Hospital?
Through my day job. We raise money once a year for CHOC Hospital. I've been able to tour the hospital several times and it makes you realize how lucky you really are. The kids and their families are really strong. It makes me want to find ways to raise more money for the families who need that help. I've put on two previous Improv Comedy shows, three Pro Wrestling shows, and one car show, raising over $15,000. With this show, we hope to sell out and raise another $4,000.
