I got this MySpace message from these people who claim to be opening an all ages venue in Huntington Beach. It looks like the spot might be called Do It Yourself. Or maybe not. It's a little confusing.
Whatever it's called, an all ages venue in HB (brah) is a good idea. Back when I was a wee lad, I saw all sorts of cool bands at The Library, which if you are too young to have been there, was not a clever name, but an actual library. My memory isn't nearly as good as it used to be, but off the top of my head, I know I saw Strictly Ballroom (probably the first time my punk ass went to what would be considered a bona fide emo show) and the Criminals. Murphy's Law says the moment I hit the send button, I'll remember 12 more awesome bands I saw there, but you get the point.
The new venue is opening sometime this year, which is sort of like saying I'm going to die at some point in my life, but hey - it's a start. No booze or anything of the sort will be sold and if the kids are smart enough, they'll leave the wine coolers in their parents' garages.
Do It Yourself says they are looking for "any band or artist that plays/paints/draws/enjoys the punk subculture," so hit 'em up if you fall into that category.

Good luck to whoever's in charge of this. But first, a word of advice: Keep away the bro-punk and you might have a shot at survival.
