Located just off the traffic circle in Old Towne Orange, the Bruery Provisions is equal parts microbrewery and high-end liquor store. Though it looks like a standard deli, with its linoleum floors and refrigerated shelves, the Bruery specializes in libations. It sells dozens of wines in addition to hundreds of beers from independent (or lesser-known) breweries and vineyards; half are stored in refrigerated shelves, ready to drink, with the other half placed on display shelves. The sheer number of drinks available can be a bit overwhelming, but if you know what you like, you'll find your way around fine. The main event is the company's own brand of meticulously crafted brews, which are available in the tasting room every day. Flights (five sample-size servings) of the Bruery's 10 homemade concoctions start at $3, while those from other breweries start at $5. We suggest trying the Loakal Red, a peppery Irish-style red, and the Rugbrod, a light, nutty stout.
