Though the pineapple-and-rum based drinks might suggest it, The Black Marlin is not a Hawaiian themed restaurant like Roy's or Don The Beachcomber; it's a "bar and seafood grill" housed in the garage-looking building behind Honda-Ya that was previously a BBQ restaurant, and another BBQ restaurant before that. Above all, it's just an American comfort food restaurant. Among its main entrees, only 5 of the 12 choices are seafood. The rest: chops, steaks, and a chicken fettucine. Wait times can be long, and the food hit-or-miss, but there's no accounting for history, which the building has in spades.
