LSXO is a Vietnamese restaurant in Huntington Beach. Pound-for-pound, the food at LSXO—the restaurant within a restaurant at Bluegold—is actually cheaper than at the sleeker venue. But most importantly, it has an entirely separate menu that’s not just all-Vietnamese, but is the window to the soul of its chef, Tin Vuong, who—before opening up an eclectic array of restaurant across LA County with Blackhouse Hospitality Management—was previously the head cook at St. Regis and Sapphire. Vuong’s flavors are undiluted, unfiltered, and bold—full of herbs, fish sauce funkiness, and wickedly hot chile peppers. You get the feeling that if Vuong were to teach you Vietnamese, he’d start you off with the swear words first. This is food for those fluent with the back alleys of Little Saigon; it is cuisine for insiders who already know where to get the best bún bò Hu? and cá kho t?.
