The Costa Mesa outpost of one of Southern California's favorite restaurant/delis mixes the classic with the contemporary. The massive menu features such Jewish staples as matzo ball soup, chopped chicken liver, potato pancakes and herring (creamed or pickled). The Acapulco mac and cheese is a delicious, offbeat treat that packs some heat, thanks to Serrano chiles. The gargantuan drink menu includes every libation you could think of, but we prefer to wash down our deli fare the way we did as kids: with a Dr. Brown's soda.
