This used to be the spot where the great 7 courses of beef restaurant Pagolac held court for twenty odd years. Now as Golden Elephant--a Thai restaurant--the space has been updated to something more appropriate for this century. The vespas have
been replaced by carved stone elephants and the whole classed-up room now looks as though it should belong in the Bellagio, not next to Stater Bros in the middle of Little Saigon. But because it is, it doesn't just serve Thai food staples like pad Thai but also hu tieu. Still, one fried rice is served in a hollowed out pineapple and their best dishes is the deep fried trout with a julienned apple salad, both presented artfully and with prices that match.
