Chaparosa Grill, at a prime location in front of the AMC Theater at The District in Tustin, gets immediate kudos for its Caribbean totems, color-splashed walls that make your eyes short circuit, and numerous ceiling fans that swoop the air as if the place was in the tropics. A large framed photo of their bald chef lords over the room like a conquering leader. The reason to come is not for their regular menu heavy on the salads and pastas, but for their Recession Lunch Special, which might last for quite a while if you read the news. For $10, you get a soup or salad, and your choice of three selected sandwiches or a linguine with tomato, zucchini and basil. The tarragon-flecked egg salad is blubbery enough to use as dipping sauce for the fries, which come as part of the meal. You could get a fruit side instead, but then, you're not exactly in the Caribbean are you?
