The place used to be a ramen-only shop before this incarnation took over. 17 Cafe Ramen seems duty-bound to serve ramen, but that's not its real strong suit. This is, in fact, a Taiwanese-owned restaurant, serving pseudo-Japanese bento boxes that are really Taiwanese rice plates. The best has tender, thin sliced beef or pork sauteed and wok-tossed with a black pepper gravy thickened with corn starch--a very Taiwanese technique that gives the place away more as not just a ramen place than the trendy boba drinks do.
