As the season of harvest is coming upon us it’s a great time to learn more about where our food comes from, how it’s produced, and what we can do to ensure a healthy, secure, and sustainable food future for all. Gates open at 6:30 pm and the films begin at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic dinner, and join us for this season’s enlightening movie picks. 60 -120 minutes screening Adults and families with kids 7+ are welcome to attend Homegrown Revolution In the midst of densely urban downtown Pasadena, radical change is taking root. For over twenty years, the Dervaes family has been transforming their home into an urban homestead. They harvest three tons of organic food annually from their 1/10 acre garden, while incorporating back-to-basics practices, solar energy and biodiesel. Dirt: The Movie DIRT! The Movie takes a humorous and substantial look at the history and current state of the wonders of soil, and tells the story of Earth’s most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility. DIRT! brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has, and shares the stories of experts from all over the world who study and are able to harness the beauty and power of a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with soil.
