Alice Waters, chef, author, and the proprietor of Chez Panisse will be the Keynote speaker. Waters is Vice President of Slow Food International, a nonprofit organization that promotes and celebrates local artisanal food traditions and has 100,000 members in over 130 countries. She is the author of eight books, including The Art of Simple Food: Notes and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution. She is also well-known for creating “edible school yards,” an initiative to transform gardens and kitchens into interactive classrooms, providing every student with a free, nutritious and organic lunch.
Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by an opening session on “The Emotional Gut: Nutrition and Lifestyle Solutions” with speaker Dr. Deanna Minich and a presentation by Leila Astarabadi on the topic of “Ayurvedic Stress Reduction Practices for a Healthy Gut.”
From 9:30 a.m. to noon, 17 health experts will discuss the latest practices and research in integrative medicine during two panel discussions and four breakout sessions. These sessions will cover management and prevention of pain and inflammation through stress reduction practices, the impact of adrenal health on hormone balance, outsmarting genes with diet, sustaining and enhancing memory in aging, the latest tests for detecting wellness, and all about the immune system, from boosting immunity to treating autoimmunity through IV therapies and low dose naltrexone.
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to explore and shop at the marketplace, gathering professionals and organizations from various fields.
