William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing
There’s a fine line between love and hate, as the saying goes, and Much Ado About nothing examines that line in a clever blend of comedy, romance, and wit. Long time rivals Benedick and Beatrice continually challenge the institution of marriage as well as each other, making them a perfect match in the eyes of their friends and families. But can the two headstrong realists be brought together to realize how much they actually have in common? While preparing for the marriage of Hero and Claudio, Benedick’s close friend Don Pedro and a collection of additional tricksters decide to play Cupid and find out if love really does conquer all.
Director EB Bohks has assembled a cast that includes several return performers along with some fresh faces. Founding company members Jeff Lowe (Benedick) and Jesse Runde (Beatrice) are joined by Alchemy newcomers Jaclyn Stickel and Paul Kim in the roles of Hero and Claudio. Casey Moriarty returns to the park as Don Pedro and company member Daniel Condor tackles the self-satisfied constable of the watch, Dogberry.
In sticking with tradition, the production will be staged on the Huntington Beach Central Park Amphitheater and will, once again, feature a Green Show that will occur immediately before the main production.
