Meritáge Vocal Arts Ensemble presents its second concert of the season, rejoicing in the music of the holidays. The concert includes some of the classic tunes like Jingle Bells and Tonight in Bethlehem, as well as newer compositions such as Bob Chilcott’s The Shepherds Sing and André Thomas’s arrangement of The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy. Also included are Samuel Adler’s classic Hanukkah tune, Rock of Ages, and the premiere of an original arrangement of a traditional Venezuelan Christmas carol entitled Niño Lindo, written by Meritáge’s own Artistic Director, Cristian Grases. Moreover, Meritáge will perform one of Randol Alan Bass’s celebrated medleys of traditional holiday tunes. The highlight of the performance will be John Rutter’s Magnificat, performed on this occasion in its piano and choir version.

This ageless and energetic masterwork has captivated audiences around the globe for over thirty years, after its premiere in Carnegie Hall in 1990, conducted by Rutter himself. This larger work presents the well-known ecclesiastical text in seven contrasting movements filled with the beauty and power. This concert will also celebrate the World Choral Day, a global celebration in which tens of thousands of choirs sing for millions in celebration of peace, unity, and understanding through choral music. Meritáge invites you and all your family to kick -off the season in style and wishes you the happiest holidays. For tickets and additional information: www.Meritage-vocalarts.org.
