Golden State Dance Foundation and V&T Classical Ballet Academy Present: Victor & Tatiana Kasatsky's "The Nutcracker"

Set to Tchaikovsky's timeless score, this full-length production of the magical holiday ballet features more than 50 local dancers, aged 4-18.

Imagine your way back to Christmas Eve, 1850. Guests are arriving for a party at the Stahlbaum home where Clara and Fritz join their parents and friends to enjoy the Christmas tree and its treasures. One mysterious guest, Herr Drosselmeyer, delights guests young and old with his wonderful gifts and magical surprises. But children will be children and what won't they quarrel about!

Later that evening, after all the guest have left and Clara is the only one left in the parlor, little mice begin scurrying by and the Nutcracker comes to life! He summons toy soldiers to overcome the evil Mouse Queen and her mischievous mice and a great and wonderful battle ensues.

Victorious, the Nutcracker transforms into a gallant prince and whisks Clara away into the Land of Snow where she meets the Snow Queen and begins a delicious and entertaining journey through the Land of Sweets: Spanish chocolates, Arabian coffee, Chinese tea, Russian candy canes, Mirliton flute candies, Waltz of the Flowers, Dew Drop and Sugar Plum fairies! Oh, what an evening for Clara.

How does it end? Well, you'll just have to find out for yourself and join us at GSDF/V&T's 2017 Nutcracker Performance!

Artistic Directors Victor and Tatiana Kasatsky were both principal dancers with the Moscow Classical Ballet and have shared the stage with great dancers such as Natalya Makarova, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Maya Plisetzkaya, Nadejda Pavlova, and Vladimir Malakhov.
