Everything about the upcoming Flaming Lips/Mac DeMarco tour doesn’t make sense— until it does. Each respective artist is known as the lovable, yet bizarre goofballs of their generation and teaming up for a tour feels absolutely right. Though it seems like an eternity based on this year’s cycle, the Lips and DeMarco released albums in 2017. Much like the last big co-billed tour they embarked on with Tame Impala, rumors are the Lips will be covering a few DeMarco tunes (and vice versa) for a limited edition split EP. While DeMarco hasn’t built up the oddball cache that the Oklahoma City-natives in their 35 years, he’s well on his way to building as diverse of a catalog that his new pals have. Outside of a festival, there may not be a more fun, and better paired show this fall than this.
